is there a digital camera that allows you to focus "manually"? by manually I mean like with film based SLRs where you turn the ring on a lens focusing your subject...this up/down button on my S40 is frankly not that great and I have a hard time telling it is in focus...(anyone have a ny manual focusing tips)?
so, is there any brand dig camera that focus "old school" style?

Yes you're right!
It's hard to focus manually.
my advice is to take a piece of paper, write on it "A"
put it near the subject and focus on the "A".
after u focused you can remove that paper.
if you're shooting far object - make a big "A"
good luck
