This has been covered a milion times before but I think I got some fake Sandisk cards.
Bought them from 7dayshop who I thought were reputable however I received them they were in plastic cases that don't look anything like my other Sandisk cases. They didn't come blister packed or with any paper work, niether did they come packed with the recovery disk software. I'm not bothered about the software it just makes me think that they are fakes.
Dug around a bit but couldn't find any info re this exact circumstance nor can I find anyway of checking the cards themselves.
Any ideas!

Which specific line of SanDisk cards? The recovery software only comes with the Extreme cards, I believe. And there have been several styles of cases - the current ones are barely bigger than the cards and not at all easy to get into. But you could always contact your local SanDisk office (http://www.sandisk.co.uk/) and ask them. That's probably your best route anyhow.

They're Extreme III, which I've had before, and the label doesn't have the same Grey sweep on the top. However when I've looked on the sandisk website 4GB card which I've got looks exactly the same as mine.

Yeah - they've redesigned the labels several times over the life of the line, mainly to try to keep ahead of the counterfeiters. But AFAIK Extreme III should still come with the recovery CD. Did they ship a product key for it, maybe, along with a link to download it from?

nothing, just a card in very difficult to open plastic case. No blister, no papers nothing.

They didn't say anything in the ad about it being "bulk"? I'm not aware of SanDisk shipping them that way. The "very difficult to open case" sounds about right for the current lot, though. Call or email SanDisk and 7DayShop and ask.

I've just bought 2 of these via Amazon, was looking at 7dayshop..... mine are the newer 30mb/s versions & came in a box & the cards were sealed in a blister pack with a card for registering/downloading the recovery software.

That being said I've used 7dayshop alot & I doubt very much they would be selling fakes, maybe these cards are removed from a pack or a bulk buy helping them keep the price low? I beleive you can go on Sandisks website & enter the codes off the cards to find out if they are geniune or not

7DayShop wouldn't sell fakes, i'm certain of it. My extreme III have never come with recovery software & thats from Amazon, 7Day, Jessops etc. Can't remember about the casing.

I bought one of these cards from eBay & new it was fake as soon as I opened it, as it didn't have serial number on the back edge.

I took pics of it and sent them to Sandisk (after speaking to them first). They emailed me back to confirm that the card was fake. The eBay seller refunded me.

If yours has a serial number then I'm pretty sure that it wont be a fake. Use a magnifying glass, get the number and ring Sandisk. They will soon confirm whether it's a fake or not.

I'm also in the camp that doesn't believe Sandisk would sell fake cards. It may however be a return, hence no box.
