I do not have the space for a studio so I am thinking of using my existing 580EX and purchasing a 580EX II.

I plan to shoot 50/50 inside and outside usuing the PW Flex and Mini Triggers

My question is should I have a total of three flashes or would 2 with remote triggers be ample for portrait work?

The last question is where is the best place to buy softboxes and umbrellas and stands for this setup?

Thanks

Outdoors one flash will probably be enough. Indoors three would be handy - main, fill, and either background or hair light. B&H is a good place to get soft boxes, here's a little portable one (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/90032-REG/Morris_32600_Soft_Box_15x18_.html/BI/2312/KBID/3114), or Photogenic do good and reasonably priced larger units. Umbrellas may be more compact and easier to set up than big soft boxes.

Be careful not to burn out your speedlites, they're not made for studio style shooting. Full power inside a soft box could cook them.
