430EX ii - what do you think?

How did you like your 430EX ii as your first flash? I have a Rebel XTi w/a 50 mm 1.8 ii & 70-200mm f/4L. Thinking about purchasing a flash but can't decide between the 430EX ii or 580EX ii. I'd rather spend less money and get the 430 but want to know how you liked it as your first flash?

I have a 430exII and love it. The 580exII can function as a master in a multiple flash ETTL setup, can swivel 360 degrees and a few more bells and whistles. Can't go wrong with either.

If you have plans of using a multiple flash setup, then you might consider getting a 580EX if you can find one for cheap since it can be used to trigger other flashes. That being said, the 430EX II is a lot of flash for the money and not that far behind the 580, but for a cheaper price. I went with the 430, because I'm planning on buying some cybersyncs in the future.

Good advice. Exactly what I was thinking. I will not be setting up multiple flashes. I'm not that far advanced!! :-)

I had the 430exii and now have the 580 and to be honest in comparison the 430exii holds it own with alot of options. If you aren't doing multiple flashes its a fantastic flash to have.
