Hello everyone! Today a member of the forum pointed out a few specs of sensor dust in one of my photo's. I have a 20D and I've heard the sensor is pretty darn fragile. So fragile that you can't even use one of those blower brushes to clean it because you could scratch the sensor. So, I'm just wondering how I am supposed to go about cleaning it?
And also, how do I clean my lenses? And I change lenses a lot when I'm out and about taking pics. Is that bad? What can I do to maintain my equiptment and stuff?
Thanks!

I have a 300d and a 20d. Now< I've never had a problem with the sensor on my 300d but recently I noticed dust in the 20d pictures. On trying to clean the sensor myself I did indeed make the problem worse, in fact I thought I may have scratched it, so I know where you're coming from. A friend of mine recomended that I send it in to be cleaned proffessionally once every six months whether I thought it needed it or not. It took two days and I'm happy to say that it's good as new. If you're in Britain the only place I could find to do it reasonably quickly is in Stoke, and they're happy to post it back to you very well wrapped up. If you need the name just let me know. Hope this is of some help, good luck chell

I've cleaned the sensor on my 20D and 1DMKII several times without any problems. I use pec pad swabs for the cleaning. It is relatively simple and quick.
It is up to each decide but I would have a hard time justfiying sending a camera in just for cleaning when it can be accomplished so easily by ourselves.

its really pretty easy. there are many methods. I use a rocket blower to keep out the big chunks and the copper hill method for maintenance.
For my lenses I use the dishwasher. Dont knock it until you try it. Use a good stong rinse agent ot the lens elements will have streaks. OH dont forget to turn off heated dry!!! Then place the lenses in the sun for a few hours on a towel. Works great!!! LOL better not try this!!! I use a lens pen, canned air and a "shamis" cloth to clean my lenses.

All this talk of rocket blowers on POTN has cleaned-out the B&H stock room! I went to add one to my order on Saturday - only to see OUT OF STOCK  They only have the little rockets.

The world does not revolve around these forums. This is but a drop in the bucket.
