So I shot a charity hockey game for Toys for Tots in Woodbridge, VA Sunday night.
The National Capital Region (military) played against the DC Police. I play with guys from both teams on another team, so they asked me to take some photos. Just starting up a freelance business, so this was good exposure/practice for me.
Well this was my first time shooting hockey with a 7d and a 70-200 2.8. Before that was from the stands at NHL rinks with a Nikon D40. HUGE difference.

Anyways I got some shots down low and was able to stand in the penalty box and shoot over the glass. Awesome spot to be in.
The lighting sucked so bad. I had to use 2500 ISO at 1/640 or 1/800. This was my first attempt so I was figuring it out on the fly.
The worst part out of all this was my 2nd CF card died on me 5min before the game ended. I lost half of the photos I took. Tried recovering and everything. FAIL
Below are some images. PPed in camera raw.

I liked your pix - the goalie must have liked number 5. They are a little cold on my monitor - IMHO. I started shooting hockey this season and would be happy with these. Are they cropped? Nice not to have to shoot through the mask, as with kids... There are a lot of good hockey shooters in the forum I hope you get more feedback.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply!

I actually gave them a blueish tint on purpose. Just felt right for the event.
