sorry if it's been asked before but i need to order a card asap and i thought i'd ask now instead of spending time looking...
how many pics on a 20d can i store on a 512? full RAW pics? or am i better off with a 1gig?
also - is there really a significant speed increase on an ultra II sandisk compared to the normal sandisk card?
thanks

well, each RAW image comes out close to 7mb so you should be able to fit roughly 70 or so. Now if you shoot RAW + JPEG expect that number to come down to about 50.

Best place to look is page 47 of the Instruction Manual showing a chart of Image Size and Card Capacity. It's based on a 256M card. For a 512M roughly double the shots. 1G multiple by 4. Your milage may vary.
I would recommend the Ultra II over the standard card. If you don't think you need the speed now, you may later and regret going the standard card.

Another vote for the SanDisk Ultra II. I wouldn't bother with anything else. Good luck with your purchase and welcome to the board.

hi and thanks for the replies...thanks for welcoming me also..and apologies for not introducing myself properly.
i noted that page 47 tip...but as i don't have the camera yet..i can't look..heh. i'll take your advice tho and go for the ultra II...tho it's not available freely here in the UK. places i go to often, ebuyer, don't seem to carry the ultra II cards... :-(
what is the benefit of shooting in Raw + jpeg?

I love the lexar 80X cards. The San2s work great as well. My Ultra 3 is nice too. Go for speed as the 20D can take alot thrown at the processor and you always want to be composing not waiting for the card to finish writing.
Oh WELCOME to POTN!

I'd get the Ultra II and get it in 1GB.
BTW-You can go to Canon's website and download the manual to any of their cameras in pdf format.
