I know a few of you have been playing with this combo. After seeing the Graduation photo using the 70-200 and TC I really would like to check out a 300mm * 1.4 = 420mm shot with the new gen IS handheld. Anyone up to it?;)

It's going to have to be a Kenko or Tamron teleconverter, since the Canon and Sigma models will not fit the 70-300 DO lens.

I've think I've heard of the Kenko, does the Tamron work as well? I think Dante, was on this trail of late.

Not sure on the Tamron either, but it does seem to have a design that allows use on lenses that don't have the cavity on the camera end of the lens.

I see the Kenko @ $195. Are you happy with it or should I keep looking? I am in line for a 85mm f1.8 so that's where my next $300 is going.

I just got the Kenko 1.4X Pro at the Hong Kong distribution site in E-bay. US$120 plus $10 postage. Arrived in 8 days (Tues while I was out of town) and quick tests show me it is going to be a good combination. (shipped it Post and I paid no duties or taxes:D )
I'm planning a more detailed test to determine affect on f stop and results. Don't know when I'll be able to get to it, hopefully tonight (depends on the Honey Do list), and also depends on the weather conditions and light.
Watch for posting.
