Hey all! Im new to POTN. I have only been into the photography since april and so far I love it. I recently got a 50mm 1.8 "nifty fifty" and wanted everyones input. Let me know what you think!

My set up:
Canon xsi w/ kit lens, 70-200 f/4L, 50mm 1.8

In the close future I would like a 40D/50D along with a 17-40 2.8L

what do you guys think?? taken with the Nifty Fifty

My Nifty Fifty is not this sharp. Nice pics, I might have to find out how I can improve my focus after these pics.

Nice shots! If there's a nit to pick, it's the electrical outlet in the BG of the first shot. I would remove it in post.

Welcome.

You get an A++ for making great images on a budget made for the homeless ... personally it wouldn't matter how much you dropped on gear the kitty gets my vote!

Another 'noob' here who thinks they're good shots, especially the cat.

The cat shot is very nice, but underexposed. The 70-200 shot is just eh. It's also underexposed and the bag popping up in front of the lens is distracting.

The exposure problems are a quick fix though, especially if you shot RAW.

brighten kitty a bit. Learn about using the patch tool in photoshop if you gotit. I think you can lose the outlet above Toonses. Welcome to the forum.

Good angle on #1, but it needs that light patch taking out and a bit more room around the cat.

#2 does nothing for me - what's the message?

The patch tool is the 7th tool down. if you right click on that, the one you select looks like a "patch". With that tool you can draw a line around the outlet. after that simply drag the selection to an area of wall that is similar in color for a patch. the computer does the rest. then hit cntrl+d to deselect. just make sure to circle the outlet with a little to spare, it seems to work better.
