Best Setting for Color Flash

Hello i am an amateur Photographer using the canon EOS Rebel xsi, new to this site. I was just wondering what would be the best settings on my camera to achieve the best coverage using a flash with a color filter. I am using a Bower sfd35c dedicated flash. Im just trying to figure out how i should set up my camera to get the best results.

well for starters shoot in raw so you can adjust colors/wb easily. Not sure what you mean when you say "best coverage"....

I just mean if im using a Red Filter on the flash the camera will pick up the flash around the entire subject...
