View Full Version : Has anyone tried a Feisol Ballhead?

Right now I'm trying to decide between the PhotoClam PC40N and the Feisol CB-40D. The PhotoClam will hold twice as much weight, but also costs twice as much before you add the plate (which is included with the Feisol.) I'm looking to put this head on a Feisol CT-3441S.

I currently have a Manfrotto 190XB with a 804RC2 3 way pan tilt head, and it just isn't enough for my 50D with the Sigma 80-400 and 1.4 extender. I have to set it way above my target, crank as hard as I can and allow it to drop, hoping that my target (usually the moon) lands centre frame.

I know the PhotoClam is a good ballhead, and I'm willing to pay for it if I need to. But if I can get something that will hold up the Siggy (by far my heaviest lens) and save a couple hundred dollars that would be really nice...

Nobody? I guess that says something about the Feisol ballheads...

The Photo Clam is by far the superior product that rivals Markins or any of the other top manufacturers. You'll love the PC-40NS.

I use the larger CB-50D with great pleasure.
It's perfectly stable and smooth in operation.
On rare occasions I even mount my 500/4L on it and does the job.
No nits from me.

Never heard of Photoclam, besides some internet user reviews.
For that price I'd rather go all the way for an RRS ballhead.
