get wide, get close...talk to the skater/rider, ask them first, stage the shot...

try and get their face/emotion/expression as well as the trick at hand, if on the pip, get up on top, if an air, get low/below and keep the ground or jump in frame...

I think these shots are a great start, and what blinking8s said is some excellent advise. Give it a try.

And as for the no shirts I bet it was a rlllyyy hot day and skating doesn't make it any less hot :-) Might as well!
