2009 Rockefeller Tree Lighting (Buble, Barry, Feliciano...)

I thought maybe some of you would appreciate this. Last night I had the chance to attend the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting with credentials. I got there around 4pm for the full dress rehearsal and show.

- The ice isn't actually ice. It is a custom carpet made to look like the ice of a rink that is in need of a Zamboni.
- The number of people/things that go into the production of this show was amazing. I can not believe the number of people needed to put this show together.
- Aretha Franklin was the only person who lip synced.
- Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart and Shakira were prerecorded.
- Megan Meney, the NBC NY affiliate AM traffic girl, is beautiful in person.
- Judah, Jack (Kenneth the Page), Dot Com, and Rocco Despirito were super nice in person.
- Michael Buble is a handsome dude and likes his jeans tight.

I was shooting Jose Feliciano's rehearsal and when he was being escorted off the stage he fell down the steps right after I took his picture. I did not take one as/after he fell, but I was tempted.

The tree lighting is an annual tradition in the US with a 2 hour lead in of Christmas performances by fairly "vanilla" acts.

Barry Manilow has made a career singing adult contemporary. Michael Buble is a young Canadian who sings standards. Jose Feliciano falls into the latin version of this as well.

Static is about the best you'll get from these performers. And I was shooting from the crowd...
