I've had my camera a month now, so let me know what you think:

Photo1
Freezing water is always kind of neat. Keep trying and see if you can get the shot without the faucet. I noticed the shadow of the water in the background. See what you can do to make that part of the photo.
Photo 2
Not too sure about this one. Crop out the green lawn for starters. The rest is still pretty loud to me though. Lots of dead stuff to look at.
Photo 3
This is my favourite photo. The horizon is beautiful. I would think to crop out part of the blue sky and the foreground to give it a pano look. I know it's not a general idea to have photo's too centred but I would like to have seen this same shot from the center of the road instead of the left lane. That way I would be less inclined to want to crop out the foreground so that there was a visual sense of the road reaching the horizon. The car in front is fine.
Photo 4
Nice chance photo. I would crop right above the white buildings to leave just the houses and do some editing to remove the very distracting pole from the foreground.

Those are just the obvious that this beginner can see.

Thanks for the replys :-)

On the fourth photo I have to say that the aeriel was very intentional. I love the way that the boring pole distracts the eye from the gorgeous looking rainbow. And the building below was initially cropped, but I like the building that says 'Focus'' on it and the fact that it is not in focus. Most people say to get rid of it but I kinda like it.

Nice shots. What camera are you using ?

What went through my mind on #2 was the purple-violet issue as many have complained about the G2 having a blind-spot when it comes to this color. The flowers here seem to be sort of blooming for some reason.

Where are you living ? (cars on the left had side ?)

I am using a Ixus 330 in the UK. The road shot was over the Penines in the North of the UK.

As for the flowers I think they are blooming ...
a) because my camera isnt that amazing (comapred to an SLR) and..
b)The very green grass in the background makes the flower look even more vivid.

from me >

everything you mention here I was thinking exactly as you say , except for the description 'boring pole',
( but you don't really mean that)
wonderful looking pole.
manmade and nature showing off together, the rainbow's curving is so beautiful, beside it
saw the word 'focus ' immediately the picture came in
and thought it was perfect, it being shot by a camera
'no way' get rid of it : )
cropping the building below, as you say you did, would and probably did , help the look of the whole 'picture'
(sorry this post reply is going ' funny' when on the forum now)
regards
marie

Pic 1) Water drops are always neat, no matter what they look like. Too bad the faucet looks like crap, this picture would have been amazing if you have used a better faucet.

Pic 2) Colors are well saturated and the composition isnt all that bad. Once again you should have used a better subject, something that doesnt look almost dead. The surroundings are all right.

Pic 3) I just think this photograph is amazing. Something right out of a Porsche ad. Well done.

Pic 4) Its just allright. Anyone could have done that shot. Only if the rainbow was better saturated. Try using photoshop and saturate it.
