Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I am considering making the switch from Nikon to Canon

Digital but would like to use my Nikkor glass (which is extensive in scope) on a Canon body via adapter. Will I retain metering & auto diaphragm function or will I limit myself to presetting the aperture, stop down metering? Thanks in advance, Mike

Welcome to POTN! I have found from my research that most lens adapters retain the lens' ability to focus on infinity however none of the adapters I have found communicate between body and lens. Some cameras allow metering with the diaphragm stopped down or provide an aperture priority automatic exposure.

There will be some one along here with more info on this than me quite shortly I am sure.

Mike,

welcome to the forum :D

It's always good to witness when somebody from the dark side sees the light and thinks about coming over

Also, take a look at this article for a more general discussion of the topic: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57023

I also have an old 601AF outfit, but so far I did not feel the need to get an adapter, as all my lenses are only consumer grade zoom lenses with the only exception of the 50/1.8. I bought an M42-Canon adapter, though, and some nice M42 lenses that I am very happy with.

Best regards,
Andy
