Server Busy

I've been getting alot of time out errors, and "server busy at the moment" messages over the past week or so when visiting POTN.
Is anything wrong?

Well I have done some maintenance now and then (last big one was 6 am eastern time yesterday). Then the server does two database backups per day, those will make server unavailable for 3 minutes.

Then there are normal Apache related problems, which are basically happening when some visitors have slow or slowed connection and some have very fast connections, and its logic of sharing processes is not always very wise. The webserver times out in 10 seconds to make sure hanged connections won't take server "slots".

Normally, if you click a link and it does not respond immediately, click the link again and do not wait for 10 second time out.

Tweaking settings is an neverending story and often very hard to determine if it is to better or worse: I have now tweaked some settings more, let's see if it makes your life smoother. One visible change is that now the forum updates thread views once on hour and not immediately.
