So me and my friends have a bi-weekly photography challenge, and this time it was my turn to pick the topic. I chose "Lines".. so basically your shot had to be composed of nothing but straight lines (vertical, horizontal, diagonal).. I was trying to go for a curve that was composed of straight lines, but as you can see below the "curve" wasn't really all that curvy..

With the exception of that little piece of dirt at the bottom left, I'd have to say that I am pretty pleased with this. I felt compelled to share this with others because it is one of the first pictures that I've taken where I can't help but think about how cool it looks.

The concept is interesting but I would have preferred the pencils (is that what they are?) te be in focus. Another point is the grain of the wood of the table. Did you take that into account when setting it up? May be a neutral or evenly patterned background would have been more suitable.

Lol, directorj, now that I'm scrolling up and down, it does look like they're moving.. hahah

vk2gwk, i tried getting the part where the pencils "curve" to be in focus, and i attached this picture from picasa, and it seems to have compressed it a bit and it doesn't really look as sharp as i thought it would =/

and yeah, I did take into account the grain of the table.. I kinda liked it more that way. I WAS going to put it on a plain white surface, but the grain of the wood looked nicer to me. =]

thanks for the comments guys!

Focus is the issue - can you try another closer down to the pencils and post it back on this? It would give you a chance to play with bokeh at the far end of the pencils, and give more impact on the stacked end.
