Aaaaargh! I was in Florence in March and wanted the same shot! It was too busy, there were people everywhere... Yours turned out just as I would have wanted mine!!

The attached photo was taken very near the same place... I think you're at the other end, under the Uffizi Galleries... You can see the window of the Uffizi at the top of mine.

I am sorry folks, but in this country - especially in summer - to take pictures without people in the way, the only solution it to get up at 5 AM. :(

I know, this is true almost everywhere in the world, but still believe, at least for personal experience (I might have been unlucky thou) that Rome, Florence, and Siena - Venice is easier because of the canals - are the worst places to shoot in that sense. Even Paris or London to me seemed easier. The exception is NYC, where the 24/7 people around is somehow the essence of that great place.

I really like the pic, BTW.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

scr7b, you are absolutely right, I was right at the end where the building goes over the street in your pic.

Rob612 - you got that right. This was at about 6:45am on a Monday morning. I shot a lot of commuters and locals that morning, while the tourists were asleep in their hotels.

Rome and Venice were the same way, you had to get up at daybreak to see the city without the hoards of tourists out spending all their hard-earned vacation dollars. Be sure to thank them all for that, it's something like 40% of Italy's GDP.
