From what I read on the dgrin discussion they linked to, if you have a product priced for $100 which is $80 at cost, and offer a 25% off coupon, they pay 75, and your CC is charged the difference. You need to be really careful you don't offer coupons that could put you in the red if your prices aren't marked up enough.
