Using the 70-200mm will let you stay out of the way, behind the last guest.

Is it a traditional Catholic ceremony? Many times they won't let you anywhere near the front of the church during the ceremony. In that case the 70-200 is your only option. If you and the wedding party/church coordinator/minister/priest/whoever are OK with going up closer to the altar, the 1.4 will help you keep your shutter speeds up.

The 17-55 F2.8 IS (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/425812-USA/Canon_1242B002_EF_S_17_55mm_f_2_8_IS.html/BI/2312/KBID/3114) is the best all round lens for a crop body. It's great in a church as it has IS, you need IS or a tripod.

At my last church ceremony I mostly used he 17-55, but I used the 10-22 for a few shots, and the 70-200 for a few shots. 90% 17-55 though.

Heh small church this time so I barely used it, just for a few head shots, the two weddings before I used it 50% for the ceremony and I used it at every reception :)

Good one! If it's so worthless why do you want it?:D

Good one! If it's so worthless why do you want it?:DBecause I care about Tim. His left arm biceps are twice as big as the right and he probably looks silly.

That and my '74 Datsun needs a new muffler. (These are hard to find).

"Between"? I'd have to say 17-55, but I'd scream, kick and cry if I could only have ONE of those.

Unless you have a second camera don't use the 50 mm for the ceremony. Its a great lens but since its a prime you are going to have alot of problems getting the images you want without getting in the way.

the 70-200 is great for shots you want, say a bridesmaid or groomsman individually while blurring out the others. if you are using 17-55 F2.8 IS would be your primary lens. It's not as sharp as an L lens but that f2.8 will give you faster shutter speeds in low light which is critical for your ceremony pictures.

They last thing you want is a perfect moment ruined by being out of focus.
