I was thinking of buying Paint Shop Pro 9, because PSCS is way out of my range. I downloaded the trial, and found the interface not very difficult to use. (Coming out of a background of Roxio PhotoSuite that is ;)). However it cannot open RAW .CR2 formats. Does anybody know any product which plugs in into this and enables me to open RAW (the cheaper the better ). I did ask Corel if they have any plans as such to support .CR2, and I am still waiting for an answer. I heard very good reports of Support from Jasc, I am not sure the same now applies for Corel . I would appreciate any comments.

use rse a free program for RAW - just convert to tiff and then you can use in any image editor

this program is getting some fantastic reviews and I use it now most of the time even though I have PSCS

Chakras,
I also have Paintshop 9 and it reads/opens a .CR2 file of a 20D camera normally.
Open the filebrowser (Ctrl+B) and double click ona CR2 file. You get a dialog to adapt some settings (like EV) and after pressing oke, you have the picture ready for editing.

Hi Rense, I tried to open it but with no luck. When I browse to the folder with CR2 files and JPG files, JPG files display properly but CR2 files don't even show up !!! Is there a specific setting ? I am currently using the trial - but Corel says it HAS all the features of full version. CR2 files are not corrupt as I can process it using Canon DPP 1.6.1 or with rawshooter as advised by etaf.

Chakras,
I have the full version of Paintshop.
Please check if the checkbox for CR2 files is checked if you go to: Files|Preferences|File format associations.
By the way Rawshooter give syou much more options to play with when opening files , so the advice of etaf is very good.

Update: Corel responded and wanted me to have 2 samples uploaded. It may be a problem with the trial version only, but I need to at least know that before buying (the same files opens correctly with other software).
