I am getting a set of the Kenko Extension Tubes for x-mas.
Given the two lenses I currently have in my possession, what magnification ratios will I get with each lens and the tubes? How do you calculate that?

For non macro lenses the magnification with tubes is given by-
M = length of tubes (mm)/ focal length of lens (mm).
Full set of Kenko ext tubes= 68mm
Hope you are getting EF-S compatible Kenko ext tubes ?

I think what LordV is talking about is Kenko makes a set of tubes that DON'T work with EF-S lenses and ONLY work with EF lenses. Make sure you got the one that works with EF/EF-S oppose to only with EF. The ones that work with EF-S lenses should say "For C/AFs" on the side of it.

The image seems to only say "C/AF" on the side of the 36mm one, but it might just be an old image? I'd call them to see if theya re or if you can cancel. There are PLENTY Keno tubes that are for both EF/EF-S lenses on ebay. They will say "For C/AFs" Plus they are a lot cheaper than $169, they tend to be in the $130-$140 range.

I would assume its just an old picture because on other threads everyone suggested that specific set for my camera and lens set.
I could be wrong though...

I would send them a mail to confirm... no harm done and could save the work of returning..

Nah...I will just wait as my in-law's are the ones that ordered the tubes, I will just return them if I need too, no biggie.
