Yes i agree with you…...; and the rendering from CZ should not be compared with Canon.
I have been following this thread from the beginning and every time i look at the pictures…I get an empty feeling that i am not using this lens……!

Instead of this lens i have 100L + 135L + 200 2.8L and of course this Trio is much more versatile then only having 2/100 ZE … but every time i am Missing the Magic of “Makro-Planar T* 2/100 ZE”…...!!!!

50mm worth of tubes should get you 1:1 I believe. I think Close-Up lenses like this (1:2 magnification) hit a nice balance between being speedy and giving you enough of a MFD to satisfy my near macro cravings.

It's not difficult to MF any of the Zeiss lenses as long as you use AF confirm or using a special focusing screen. My experience comes from shooting an M9, which is even more of a challenge in low light. :)

I've been using my 1Ds 3 without having to use a special focusing screen but, if you do go this route, it's a simple install.

Some 1st test shots with this lens, I'm just amazed at how good this lens is.
Did a whole 2.5hr photoshoot with this lens at f5.6, f4 and f2 and it performed as well as I expected it to. Utterly brilliant.

It's made my 70-200mm for the studio redundant surprisingly! So I will sell it off soon.

These are pretty much SOOC with minor exposure adjustments and some extra sharpening, in hindsight it hardly needs any:

When the Canon 100L was announced I compare it to the Zeiss but the 1:1 and AF + IS made me choice for the Canon. Now about a year later I do like the Canon but looking at all the Zeiss 100mm pictures make me rethink should I sell my 100L and get this or not ??? I mostly use it in the studio and brought it with me on vacation. For fast moving events I use my 135L or 200L so I don't care about AF... Hmmm will I miss my 100L :rolleyes:
