Like to be in that aircraft and landing on that runway, weather that day high side winds :-(, this is Leeds and Bradford international airport, the highest in England, your comments welcomed

Cool shot! you could title it "somewhere near the runway"

Woah, was he even aiming for that runway?
Also, that seems like one bumpy runway!

That's just scary!

He MAY be doing what is know as "Crabbing", which is a semi controlled blown sideways approach. If He IS, then it's an extreme case.
Did it land on that pass, or did it abort?

I would really hope that he aborted that one and tried again.

Is there another runway just over that little hill? That's my guess.
If not... ouch. No, I wouldn't like to be on that plane.

Yes it looks like crabbing. But it seems to be a little too risky especially with a passenger jet. If he made it clean, that's a pilot !!!

Now I know why cheap flights fly out of Leeds Bradford ;)

I saw the plane land ok must be a good pilot, but puts me off flying and returning from there

Great shot! As others have commented the pilot is crabbing into the wind. The plane, believe it or not, is actually flying straight down the runway. It looks disconcerting from this angle but it's the only way to make the aircraft fly stright down the runway centerline if there is a cross wind (which happens, to some degree, almost all of the time). They do the same thing on take off during a cross wind. Lift off; nose into the wind; looks "crooked" from the ground but the aircraft is actually flying a straight track over the ground.

Your quite correct wes, the aircraft was at an alarming side angle but going straight and the landing looked perfect to me, thanks for comment

Thats really the only technique(crabbing) large planes have to counter strong crosswinds on landing. Smaller planes have other options that are not as dramatic as viewed in this PIC. Anyhow...nice shot of human/machine against the forces of nature.
Oh...Gotta wonder who engineered that airport?

putting the rudder to use :) honestly they should have leveled that before putting the runway there..

That makes me rethink the whole flying concept! :D:D Good 'catch'!
