Just around from Akaroa, somewhere not long before Sumner, I forget the name of the place. Let's just call it middle earth ;)

Tim,

I really like the shot...

a couple of suggestions...you mght consider cropping some of the bottom off so the Horizon is not so close to the middle and you might also want to make sure the horizon is straight...I can't really tell if it is or not but something doesn't look quite right...

I love the pictures though...

Thanks Symes, and thanks for the suggestions. I quite like the cropping as it is, it gets the reflections in nicely, and the reflection of the blue sky on the bottom right's nice. The horizon's slightly off level, but since it curves slightly I might just leave it alone. If you would like to try cropping/levelling please do.

Very nice, Tim. The colors are wonderful and the boat adds some great dimension to it. The clouds on the horizon really give it some great depth as well..... I wouldn't crop it either.

Beautiful and tranquil image.
I really like the crepuscular rays in the background :D

Best regards,
Andy

cre·pus·cu·lar Pronunciation Key (kr-psky-lr)
adj.

1. Of or like twilight; dim: “the period's crepuscular charm and a waning of the intense francophilia that used to shape the art market” (Wall Street Journal).
2. Zoology. Becoming active at twilight or before sunrise, as do bats and certain insects and birds.

Thanks - I think! ;) It'd probably have said sunbeams myself :p

Bloody beautiful Tim!
Lots of depth and that early morning 'peace' feeling!

I understand what symes is saying about "straight horizon's" and "rule of thirds", but sometimes some shots can really break the rules! I think any teacher would say that. This shot just draws me into it!

And thanks for getting that definition for "crepuscular"! I'm dumb.

Just perfect!

Like a good watercolour painting...put the brushes away and leave it alone!

Beautiful shot. I like the color and quality of the light both in the sky and reflected. The hint of blue on the left is also great. Very nice capture.

Edit: I'm becoming a true west coaster. The blue I was speaking of is on the right, upper and lower....:o
