Hey guys, been a while! I've been swamped at work and with school. Yesterday I finally got a chance to go to Calumet in San Francisco and purchase some new backdrops and a stand. Here's some shots with the charcoal backdrop:

Very cool. What height was the light in #1 at? Looks like it could have gone a little higher. #4 is my favorite. I love what you did with the light on the backdrop far right. Nice work.

Thanks Mike!
The first shot was when I had my AB800 at about six feet. Right after I took that I jacked it up to ten and put a grid on it haha. I totally agree though, it looks a little hot in the first shot. And thanks about 4! its my favorite too =D

I'm obsessed with backdrops at the moment as I intend to buy some shortly, and I really like the backdrop in these, as well as the shots. #3 is my favourite, closely followed by #4.

Your main light at the right hand side of the subject should be raised to a higher position in order to make the facial shadows fall more diagonally. This will give better rendition of the facial contours.

Thanks guys!
Jim: This particular backdrop is the 107" Charcoal gray. It's easily one of my favorite color backdrops of all time.
Robert: I tried to mix it up with the height on these. I ended up starting lower and going higher because I saw the benefit in what you are talking about. Unfortunately I worked in reverse order of how I should have lit with that light. The first image should have been shot higher like yo usaid i think, and the later images lower.
Any more comments? =D

I like #4 the best. I like how the light is hits the background and front of the barrel. Try moving your subject just a little further away from the background to get a little more separation.
