One of the most amazing games I have seen in my life. App had the game sealed, getting the ball back with 3 minutes, up by 4. Kick returner drops the kick after fielding it stupidly, and Richmond runs it back. App now down by 3. Charge down field, get in field goal range, and throw in a touchdown with 8 seconds left. I went from hardcore freak out mode, to hard core I gotta get celebration photos mode. Unfortunately, those are all on my cards still.

A VERY generous member of POTN let me borrow their 300 2.8, which was great. Thanks again James. Still had to shoot at 1/400th, ISO 1600 on that old 1D. It wasn't happy, haha. I'm pretty spoiled with App's lights, where I can get 1/640 @ f/4

Edwards breaking through for a touchdown. He strained his ACL against Elon three weeks ago....and turned on the jets for this game. His mental ability is phenomenal, he knew what he had to with 1 minute in the game left and did it, no questions asked.

Tom

Looks like you did ok at iso 1600. Great shots.

I'm going to load mine up later today. Ok if I load them here rather than starting another thread? My 600+ photos are loading now and they are going to take awhile. If you see some you need for the paper, let me know....

Yeah go ahead and load them up here if you wish!

I definitely was loving that lens. I shoot generally with the 300 f/4 non-IS, so I was pretty used to the focal distance and prime shooting, but the AF speed on that beast is amazing. I'd love to see what that lens can do in some good daylight.

Glad you like the shots, definitely wasn't my strongest game, but we got enough to run a decent spread. Hopefully I'll be seeing you (and the team) in Chattanooga!

Tom and I shot the ASU vs Richmond game Saturday night. It was pleasure getting to meet finally meet him and get a chance to talk. As he said the game was very exciting if you were a ASU fan and huge disappointment if you were pulling for the Spiders.

The light on the field was good enough to shoot manual at 3200 ISO, 2.8 and 1000. Fall off in the end zone was at least 2 stops.

Here are some of my picks.

Appalachian State Quarterback Armanti Edwards looks to complete a pass down field against the Richmond Spiders during the first quarter of the NCAA FCS Quarterfinal championship at the University of Richmond Stadium on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Appalachian State won the game 35-31.
