View Full Version : Accessing gear in sling bag while standing?

I've seen videos and pictures and while it looks easy to slide the bag around to your chest and pull out the camera from the side opening, it also looks like the rest of the gear is harder to get to due to the measures taken to ensure your gear doesn't all fall out through the main opening. I'm looking at the Kata 3n1 or SlingShot specifically. Do you arrange your bag so that 1-2 lenses or accessories are accessible while standing but getting to less-used equipment requires taking the bag off?

It works great if you have 3 lenses or less. Terrible if you have more, imo.

I got rid of the Lowepro 200 because of that.

I use a shoulder bag now. Sounds like it would be less comfortable but the Lowepro ProMag2 AW is actually, if not more comfortable on long days, as comfortable. The combination of shoulder and waist belt works well and I can get at 5 lenses (in my signature) without having to worry about dropping one or moving things around to get at a lens. I also have room for the 580EXII in it's own slot.

I can leave any of the 5 lenses mounted and drop the camera into the bag. It's also much better padded than the 200.

I also travel and it is small enough for a carryon on any aiirline going anywhere in the world.
