Hello all.
This was my first photo shoot. This was done at home and I have to say I didnt know how much work it would take, lol. I had alot of fun and the model is very happy with the end results, Photos are for her fiance.

I have a question for #1 BUT, I would like some C&C for the rest, so I will know for the future... ty all in advance.

#1, the hair is blending in with the background. Is it because its in B&w? I had her about 1ft or maybe more away from the backdrop. What should I do for the nxt time...?

They are all good, I think. I would have used a different color backdrop (shade of grey) because of the necessary contrast.
#3 and #4 are a bit over exposed in my opinion.
Over all: I wish my "first shoot" was as good!

You have a beautiful model who knows how to pose, but the scenes in #1 and #2 are a hodge-podge because of the disarray of the clothing. The whole picture has to look as beautiful as the model, and those do not.

In #3, it becomes better, but now a new problem arises - all of the shots are overexposed, but in #3 and 4 it is the main problem.

Note: Hodge-podge - a technical term meaning "a mess".

To get separation from the background in #1 you need some hair lighting from the back and bring her forward more. Also, your wb looks off in #2 photo, she looks orange. #3 & 4 are a tad over.

Highlights on the skin in some images are too hot IMO.

The over=exposed look is kinda in right now...so I quite like it...however in a few years (or months) it may not...so I am not trying to go that way.

For a first shoot...well done though, she is in focus and colours are sharp.

If you have access to some of the higher end editing software- maybe remove some of the freckles/moles from her skin in shots 1 and 2 and maybe work on the hotspots in 3 and 4. As a female when I see shots of other women, I always look for their flaws ( I know its not right, but its human nature) My eyes are drawn to these small details, and I would bet that other women who are honest would admit they do the same....

Ty Jacksonville,
you are SO right and that is what I wasnt able to do. I was only able to smooth out her face. Do you or anybody here know of a software I'd be able to do so?

tx all. I appreciate all the feedback.:D

btw, What do you mean by 'hotspots'?

In #2 and #4 the most pronounced hot spot is her left cheekbone.

Previous comments aside, I think they're great for your first attempt.

I use photoshop elements #8, one of the perks of this program is the magic eraser feature, fabulous for this type of editing. The program is very extensive but the tuts they have on line are very helpful!

As far as hotspots- its that beautiful glow your model has when you look at her but the camera shows it as a "shinny spot" easy to correct with the above mentioned program...or a matte make-up on your model if you can plan ahead, LOL

By the way- I didn't say before but the pics and composition of the shots are great. Keep up the good work...Looking forward to more.
