I have been fiddling around with my camera, and to my dismay, I find that the pictures are blur more often than I would like it to be, and with grainy effect quite often too.... especially when I am taking macro pictures or using full optical zoom.... does this camera come with auto focus?

The A 40 is fully automatic. Read manual!
As far as your grainy photo's go, try setting your iso to 50. It is likely too high. Even in low light I find that the A40's 400 setting is too grainy.
And thirdly, Practise! You'll eventually get the hang of it.:)

There's an A40 adjustment download available from Canon that should improve that for you. Just goto: http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/PSA40/PSA40_Adjustment-e.html and follow the instructions. Please let everyone know if it makes a significant improvement.

Hi Conk ^_^
Well, I am really an amateur in photography but I wouldnt say A40 is fully automatic.... cos of the modes you can select, including manual. I got the part on blurry pictures, as I realised that I must select macro mode in program mode in order for the camera to adjust the focal length. Sounds dumb on hindsight, but it wasnt something that I realised then. But then I still dont get the desired sharpness sometimes... more playing around with it I guess..
And thanks, I have gotten the ISO50 thing, tried all the settings....
I have been playing around with the camera and its settings like a child would with a new toy, haha....

Hi Johnny
Thank you for the info. HOwever, my camera has already been adjusted , according to the website. It was required for me to key in the serial number of my camera and it was said that mine is already with that upgrade. Thanks ^_^
