G3 Forum Members,
I've been reading your posts for a couple months while trying to decide which digital camera to invest in. Because of your great reviews, I ordered a G3 on Monday and it arrived Wednesday. I also followed your advice and ordered a few goodies from LensMate. Hopefully, that order will be here on Tuesday. I plan to start the learning process while attending a 'Dog Agility Championship' today.
Thanks for a great forum!

Good luck with your G3 - you'll love it. Post some of your shot of the dog contest in the forum. I would like to see how the G3 does with action shots.

Thanks for wishing me good luck! Unfortunately, I arrived at the dog show just as it was wrapping up. However, I did get a chance to give the camera a try around the house and it's obvious I'll be very happy with it. I'll post some action shots after I get to know this G3 a little better. Keep in mind, I'm still running around with the camera in one hand and the manual in the other!

Doug in Alaska and Astro,
I bit the bullet early this morning while drinking coffee getting ready for work-spend, spend, spend...(sell sell sell other cameras on eBay...)
Bought at B&H-they did go down again from $719 to $699 as you've said Astro, so I feel good that I did buy from them, and bought these accessories:
Hoya Circular Polarizer/UV haze SMC 58mm $67.50
Lexar 512mb 12x compact flash $149.95
Power 2000 batttery charger 110vdc/ac (car cigarette adapter) for 511,512,
The shipping will be right at $10. Will get the 58mm adapters at lensmate, should be instock later this month, get an additional battery later. On the BP 511, may order the cheapies from eBay-the $13.00 ones listed, after that other guy posts and lets us know what he thinks about them.
Can't wait to get it, Doug I'm sure you will love that camera, I know how Astro feels about ~~~waiting to order~~~. It will get me out of the house to go do some shooting.
Signed,
Kerry
Happily anticipating...

It's bad enough that I have to wait until later next week,Now we just got 12"+ of snow so I'm stuck in the house for the next few days staring at the G3 on my computer screen. At least I'll know exactly what accesories to order when the time comes. This waiting is gonna kill me.My wife can't wait until I get it so I'll shut up and get out of the house.

Was this an internet special or did you have to ask for the $699. price over the phone? Thanks for any info.

Just go to the B+H site, look for a G3 and right next to it there is a link that says "show me a better price" click on it and give them your e-mail address. They send you the good price that way then use the link to buy it.

Has anyone dealt with buydig.com? I bought my G3 from this company (world-direct) and paid $617 for it. The shipping was kind of high ($54) which made the total $671. I asked lots of questions before finally purchasing the camera. It is brand new and came with the USA warranty. When I ordered the camera, I was told to expect a Fed Ex tracking number within 72 hours, via email. The camera arrived within 48 hours so I never received the tracking number. Pretty fast delivery time considering I live in Alaska!
Good luck to all of you who have G3s on order. I hope you like your cameras as much as I do!

Ive heard both good and bad about buydig.com the shipping is always high and I've also heard reports of bad customer service.I'll just stick to what I know.B+H has it for 699 with FREE shipping last time I checked. So it's worth a few more dollars to me for some piece of mind.
4 more days and counting

Astro,
I have also been very happy with B&H in the past. Last Monday, when I ordered my camera, their 'email me a better price' was still at around $745. If I remember correctly??? I see they have now dropped the price to $699 as you have stated. You can't go wrong with B&H. Good luck with your new camera!

Hi Doug,
I bought my G3 from buydig as well, at that time they had it for 649 +25 shipping, now it went down to 617. The ordering was really simple, all over the web, never talked to anyone, and received it in 2 or 3 days.
I returned it to them after about 10 days due to a dead pixel, they gave me a RA# without any questions.
After about 9 days I got worried and got to know their customer service, being on hold forever, hung up, and finally talked to someone a little rude, telling me they had not received it. The next day I got their email that it was on its way. So far no problems with this one.
Anyway, besides of a little suspense, they have great prices, fast shipping, and don't try to bull**** you into overpriced accessories. YMMV.
