Cocoon 1

I am TRYING to take some in-focus macro shots and not having much luck but I was surprised by what was inside this cocoon. I expected grubs of some kind.

It contained probably a thousand tiny spiders each one just pinhead size so I guess I'm being ambitious trying to capture them with an S1.

The cocoon brings back memories of army/tent caterpillars from when I was a kid. Try cutting the lawn when it's surrounded by trees and overhanging branches covered with crawlies and cocoons!

Wow! That's a big(from the pic) cacoon. Nice captures! #2 is awesome.
It'd be nice if u can take another shot when the baby spiders start crawling out. ;)

I am actually disgusted by spiders! I astonished myself by even taking the photos and the coccon has already been dumped in the garden. It was on a gum leaf so not a very big leaf at all and I presumed it contained grubs which would just attack the young tree, I wouldn't have opened it if I'd thought it had spiders inside. What kind of spider makes a coccon like that? That's the really scarey thought, it's in my garden!
