I have just purchase the Canon 24-70L and I was wondering if you could tell me if these pictures are sharp and if this lens was keeper or should I send it back and get another. Thanks so much for your help. I These pictures were not cropped at all. When people say 100% cropped what do they mean?

Jimmy,
can't tell much from the size of the images I am able to see ... very small
I find www. photo.net a very decent place, as I can put 100% images there and others can access them just the same.
Best regards,
Andy

Hi Jimmy:
It would be more helpful to see larger size shots to really determine sharpness etc......that being said, they look ok to me as far as focusing and colour. What I would do is take a couple of your favourite shots and print them out to 8 X 10. If they look good there, then you have a perfectly acceptable lens............100% cropped refers to editing a shot in Photoshop (or other editor) and zooming in to 100% size; crop a section (in focus area) and look at how well the lens has resolved all the info.......you have to be careful though because none of us will ever look at a picture in 100% size........at least most of us won't!!! Go and enjoy the glass.........

Jimmy,
Amateur here, but from what I can see, the pictures seem fine. It just may take you a few shootings to find the sweet spot of the lens. I was really concerned about how "fluffy" my pictures looked at first when I purchased my lenses. Once I found the sweet spot, I was happier with the results.
Here is link to a thread about 100% crop.
