I was checking this out on BH and I was wondering how useful it is? I have the 420ex. Can anybody comment on this, or any other alternatives for diffusing or softening the flash? Here's the BH link:

Do you use the Lumiquest mini-softbox strait forward or at a 45 degree up position?
What is the best way to use it? Thanks in advance.

I really like the Gary's Lightsphere II. It's a bit big, but it works very very well.

Hello AJP
So your saying that you use that "pull out, fold down" flap thingy on the 580ex and it works fine? I have the 420ex with a Omni Bounce and I really like the results. I was just thinking to myself when I get the 580 I would have to get another. Its good to know that the built in defuser works.

I have Stoffen Omni-bounce and use it on a 420-EX. I've found it to be quite useful.

Don't be confused, the difuser is for wide angle lens, I think it is to increase angle of view to 17mm equivalent.

I have the Omni-Bounce and I keep it on the flash all the time unless I need more range or I'm sure that the ceiling is white enough to bounce.

I use straight forward. When I want to bounce, I have the Lumiquest pocket bouncer. :)

Just took a look at the pocket bouncer. Hmmm, A rubberband and a white index card. Oh yeah that was the old way. Disposable and cheap.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go ahead and add this to my cart for my next big purchase in a couple weeks.
