Yes, same here. I ordered about a month ago at $620 and they have yet to ship. I received an order delayed email which said that it would ship on the 17th. I do not believe that they will though. But you can cancel at any time...So I figured I would hold on to the order until it either ships or I see it someplace else for a comparative price.

UPDATE: I called up Dell because I read on the other forum (thanks cdhender), that people were being compensated. After a 15 minute phone call I got a $35 coupon. I basically said I have heard of other people getting discounts and I want one too.

Arlington Camera in Arlington, Texas has them on the shelf for $739.00.
www.arlingtoncamera.com (http://www.arlingtoncamera.com)
I have brought this month a Canon 20D, the 10-22 and a EB-G2 grip from them. Great service and apex salesmen. Ask for Jay.
Enjoy,
Lynn
On another note, I brought a 100-400 2 weeks ago from Dell and was told it would be two weeks and it turned to be 2 days. Came from Ft. Worth, Texas..........

That's great. But did they give you an expected date for your lense?

Yeah, the rep told me it would ship in 3 days. If it doesn't ship then I can hopefully call up angry style and get more coupons heh. I ordered it 5/27 so I really havn't been waiting that long. If it ships in 3 days i'll be happy considering the $35 discount. $595 shipped is allot cheaper than I have seen it anywhere else.

I ordered mine about a month ago, chose 4 day ground shipping, and got it the very next day. Sorry to hear about the delays for everyone else. Mine biggest complaint is the poor job they do packaging the lens for shipment.

I jumped on a Dell deal for this lens a few months ago, got it for $640 total (tax in my state). While I got it in 2 days, others who ordered at the same time waited months.
I also grabbed the 17-85IS during a Dell deal ($460); waited a month for it.
As I didn't "need" either one "right now", I was willing to wait because of the prices.

I placed an order with them, and after I heard about such problems I cancelled the order and bought my 17-40 instead from Buydig.com

I ordered a 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM from them back in March for $1496.88 after all discounts.(GREAT Price!!!)
Website stated that item usually ships with 24 hours. After I placed my order I received an emaill stating that the ship date would not be for 3 weeks!
I emailed them telling them of my displeasure;they offered me $75.00 of my lens-I took it and the lens was at my door within a week.Lens cost me $1421.88!!!!!!! Can't beat it.

After repeated delays from Dell, I gave up and cancelled my 10-22mm order and ordered 17-40mm instead from Amazon...BTW, the Canon 10-22mm lens price is dropping fast, it was $799 all across the board just last month and now Amazon is selling it at $699. I bet the price is going to drop further in the near future as new WA lens came/is coming out that's much cheaper (e.g. Sigma 10-20mm, Tokina 12-24mm...etc.)...I guess I'm going to wait a bit for the true WA shots...

I ordered my 10-22 from Dell.com on May 17th for $589. The first ship date was 6/2, then on 6/2 it changed to 6/20. I called them, emailed them, etc and got coupons for like $95 good on future purchases, however, when I saw the Amazon.com deal, I went with it. I cancelled my order with Dell, ordered my lens from Amazon, and had it in two days.
By the way, when I called Dell the first time, they said there was a problem with the order, but they could not tell me what it was. This is after I knew from reading dpreview that it was backordered. Their customer support was horrible on this deal, and I didnt feel they deserved my money. Not to mention who knows if would have actually shipped on 6/20. I have heard of people waiting for two months for camera related stuff from them.
I hope those of you with orders with dell for this lens get it sooner than later. It is really a great lens you will all enjoy.

I ordered the Canon 70-200 f/4 L from Dell back around the third week of April when their web site said 'ships within 24 hours'. At the time all lenses seemed to be on sale for 10% off, plus I was able to apply an email coupon I had received from them that was about to expire at the end of the month, as well as another 10% off coupon from bensbargains (I was one of the lucky 'first 1000' to be able to grab it). Altogether it knocked over $120 off the original price. Lo and behold, the very next day I get an email telling me shipping is going to be delayed one week. So I waited. One week later, the day it's supposed to ship, I get another email telling me it's going to be yet another week until it ships. I had a vacation planned for third week of May, and had wanted to get the lens ahead of time to be able to take test shots, get used to it, etc. And now my time was quickly running out. I just didn't trust that Dell would even ship it on the 2nd promised date having pushed the date out twice already from what they originally stated.
So I went out to Amazon.com, saw the exact same lens that (with shipping included) would wind up costing me only abt $10 more than I was going to pay Dell. I ordered it right then and there, called Dell and cancelled my order, and had the lens from Amazon in my hands within 2 days. I'm not sure I will ever try another lens order from Dell again, especially if I don't want to wait weeks and weeks to get it. Looking back, I wonder if the fact that I would have been able to get the lens from Dell at such a good price, with the piggy-backed coupons and all, somehow made filling my order less than a priority for them.

I had heard of other people's experiences with Dell on peripherals, however, not being in a rush, decided to order anyway on May 20 for a June 7 ship date. On June 7, they advised it would be June 14, and on June 13, I received the following and decided to wait for shipment or until I found it for less elsewhere.
We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay with your order xxxxxxxxxxx and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before 06-22-2005.
Please be aware that due to Federal Trade Commission rules, we must have your consent to continue with the order despite the delay.
· If you do not contact us by 7:00pm Central Standard Time on 06-15-2005, your order will automatically be cancelled.

Dell has this Lacie 200 gig external USB2 7200 drive I ordered today for $108 after two instant public coupons - the $35 coupon from the 10-22 delay = $73 including shipping :)
We'll see if the drive ships on time....

The saga continues.....just notified by Dell it will be sometime in July before they ship. It is getting to look like a scam ......Dell appears to want me to cancel....screw them....I will wait unitil hell freezes over.....

I also recieved an email saying it would not ship to July. It also said I had to tell them I wanted to continue the order or they would cancel it. I called them up, got them to continue the order and they issued me another $35 compensation coupon. I am kind of hoping now they never ship this lens...collecting $35 a month in coupons is pretty cool.

**The following is based on my opinion alone and no hard facts, so take it as such**
If I had to guess, I'd say Dell intentionally delays shipping of items where people stacked several coupons. Why? Because at that point they probably aren't making much of a profit. If they keep delaying the shipment many people will just cancel their order and Dell can keep that lens and possibly sell it to someone for the full profit margin. If this is the case they are taking a big risk as many people won't come back after that kind of service and there is a chance no one will buy lenses from them at full price. Of course, I'm sure computers are their real bread and butter.

I'm glad I cancelled the order (see my earlier post above) and ordered the 17-40mm instead from Amazon, which arrives in 2 days!! BTW, I love the new lens and it's solid built. I probably won't order from Dell again...

Have patience and ye shall be rewarded. It took 1 1/2 months, but I received my lens yesterday. Not too bad to save $150!
Figures though, I've had a lot of free time the last few weeks, but now that I have it, I'm busy and won't have time to really try it until next weekend.
Hope everyone else gets their delivery soon.

I have a 17-85 that has a zoom mechanism which is defective. It sticks at 35 and sound like there is sand in it .Really rough. I am waiting for an exchange from Dell . About 2-3 weeks now . The defective lens still works ok and I can keep it till they send me another.
