After reading meny stellar reviews of this camera I decided to get one since my old Nikon coolpix was terrible. I'm pretty novice with photography but figured this one shoots HD video and has a good reputation and is probably fairly easy to use. I have two issues that I can not seem to figure out.

1. When shooting a video if I don't hold the camera perfectly still, it will constantly blur and re-adjust it's focus (which is very annoying) and when people move, they blur??? Isn't the point of being able to shoot videos to be able to do so without blurring? Even low-end P&S cameras do a better job, is there a setting I'm missing?

2. When taking indoor shots of say a birthday party, people blur when walking and every time I move the camera it has to blur and re-focus... again, the lower end Nikon pocket camera could take pics all day long with people moving and no blur...

What am I doing wrong, or how can i make this stop... please!

1) play with the settings a bit

2) try increasing ISO and lower exposure. Or use flash.

I would give more advice but I need to see pics. The SX20 is a great camera but it just takes a little bit time to learn if you're not very familiar.

You may want to turn Servo focus off or try the AF lock before starting a video

Try turning IS off.
