Was playing around with the DOF on my Canon 17-55 2.8 what do you think ?

Awesome colors ...but I'm not too fussy about the background and I would of taken it at a different angle. Just my opinion. Very nice shot though.

Verry pretty colors. Like Vidcanon I think the background is too much clutter. Use a backdrop for that. Also I notice some reflections of a window in the top half of the vase. If the vase is your object you should avoid such reflections. DOF is good.
The combination with the table cloth is very good but that should fade into "nothing" and not into the rest of the furniture.

Great advice and observations, I took this picture as soon as I received my 17-55 as I was excited and could not wait to try it out.

if an element in an image is not the subject it will or will not support the subject. how well do non subject elements support or not support this subject in this image?
