Anyone ever get a repair done by Tokina?

I recently sent off my Tokina 24-200mm lens to get repaired because of a mis-focusing issue. I've had it less than a year, and since it has a 1 year warranty, I was under the impression that if I send it to them I'd have to pick up the shipping charge, but they would repair it for free and ship it back to me at no cost.

However, I just got an email stating that it'll cost me $86 for them to repair it and send it back to me. What's the deal?

Did you register the lens when you bought it? Did you enclose proof of purchase?

No to both of those, but I do have the invoice around here somewhere....
