This photo was taken at the Congressional Cemetery*. I enjoy going to cemeteries not only looking at the history found in the location but to look at the sculptures and headstones that sadly are not as common any more. There are far too many cemeteries with no standing headstones but just slabs that are laying on the ground and unseen from a distance. The artistry is unmatched and unfortunately becoming a thing of the past with little to no future.
While I enjoy roaming around the grounds and looking at the sculpted stones I can't help but be touched by the special notifications of lost children. Usually these graves are marked with a lamb on the headstone but every now and then you can find a grander marker. This picture is one of the stones that went beyond the lamb and is very touching. While I am not a religious person I can respect the sentiment expressed for this grave.
