Ok I've read some reviews on both and they both seem like great lenses. But I'm torn between the 2. The price difference is a factor but if the 10-22 is better I would suck it up and go for it.
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Chris

I chose the Tokina over the Canon for one reason, the price. We're talking about almost 40% here. Also, the Tokina comes with the hood whereas the Canon doesn't. I'm very happy with the picture quality with my Tokina and really can't imagine the Canon could be good enough to justify the higher price. Some people worry that third party lenses won't be compatible with future cameras, but if I upgrade it will be to a full frame camera in which case neither one would work. From what I've read about the Canon it is a very good lens as well, so you will most likely be happy with either.

Would the Tokina go on a 1.3X crop camera?

I think it would technically fit on the camera, but I think you'd get vignetting on the really wide part of the lens.

I've found a few reviews.

From my quick look at the reviews the Tokina's pretty good, though the detail wide open and contrast/sharpness isn't quite as good as the Canon 10-22.
There's also a new Sigma 10-20 HSM (http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3301&navigator=6) coming out in the near future which might be worth considering. When it's available it's $469 from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=381610&is=REG), and might be worth considering. If I lived in the states i'd just order the lot and compare them myself, but alas shipping costs quite a lot to me here in NZ.

Here's a sigma 12-24 review.
