You could try some long exposure shots with the cars. (if you bring your tripod)

Kinda off topic but B&H is an amazing place to go to. HUGE. Even if you don't plan on buying anything, it's worth looking at.

Any ideas where you plan on going? Christmas tree? Rockefeller center?

just got back from a 2 week trip to NYC. i was snapping some pics, along with A MILLION OTHER PEOPLE snapping pics, when it occurred to me that every square inch of NYC has been photographed by MUCH BETTER photographers than me at least a millions times over.....

The only pics I took had my wife and kid in them. Bring a WIDE angle lens, as you won't get much space between you and the subject w/o a million people trying to walk by. And the typical New Yorker will NOT stop for you to take a pic.

The funny thing is, whenever I'm trying to take a shot of someone on the street a passerby will almost always walk through the frame and yet, whenever I'm actually waiting for someone to walk through the frame to take the shot, most people tend to walk behind me! Ah, the joys of street photography...lol. :)

lol the same happened to me several times during my 2 week stay in NYC. Did anyone else have people ask to take pics for them (with their p&s) after seeing you with your ginormous dslr setup?

I wouldnt worry about what pictures others have taken. There is still a great number of unique shots that you can take.
