hey guys,
got to go camping last week for a few days and got this cool shot of a butterfly.
it landed next to me as i was walking and started firing off shots as i zoomed in because i knew it was a cool shot and spur of the moment :)

If you have some version of photoshop, you should try lightening the shadows and darkening the highlights a lot. You'll need to add contrast afterwards and maybe a little saturation if it seems washed a little.

hellashot i have PS CS..i tried using levels to darken the lights a bit.
but the butterfly is getting too dark with it..
can you please help me in getting the picture adjusted.
do you know of any tutorials online ?

Nice shot - I agree about the post processing.
There are some tutorials in the Post Processing forum here. And have you ever been here? http://www.luminous-landscape.com/
They have quite a few tutorials.

Selected the BF, and reduced the levels around it. Better? Dunno? Hope you dont mind.

so you selected the BF and then u can exclude it from the levels ..interesting
i have alot to learn in PS cs ..for sure thanks for sharing
