can I text for free (app) with Blackberry?

I have an iPhone and I have an app that allows to me to text for free. I love it and it works well.

My wife has a Blackberry and she does not have a text plan.
Does anyone know of a way to text for free with a Blackberry?

I know there is a way to send an email and have it converted to a text, but she wants a true text feel - such as reply, conversation, etc.

I use Blackberry messenger all the time... but it only works Blackberry to Blackberry. It uses your data plan to send messages, via your unique pin so it is unlimited.

Ditch that iphone and go Blackberry! :p

Blackberry messenger is the ticket. Lose the yphone and snag a crackberry.
