I was lucky enough to see this legendary band yesterday. They played for more than two and a half hours of solid funk, metal and soul. I envy these guys, they seem to be doing exactly what they want.

During the 'three song shoot', I took these pics with my 450D and 100 2.0. I haven't shot live bands on a big stage before, so I was mainly watching my shutter speed, most shots are between 1/125 and 1/250, /F2.0, ISO 1600.

This post is mostly to share. I know I still have a lot to learn, C&C is welcome.

I'd say you did pretty well...last one is too hot imho, but it looks the light was super contrasty for that shot, which is tough to deal with. I always liked my 100/2 when I had one.

nice work, but i'm thinking you could have gone lower on the shutter, i go as low as 1/60, even lower with IS.

great band btw! haven't shot them but been listening to them since high school!

Thanks! So, what happened to your 100/2?

I liked it so much I bought a 135L...which is like the same thing only slightly better. ;)

Nice shots, except for the last two...
Bit more variety would have been nice though.
Guitarist still is the hardest to capture it seems.

I don't agree the with the "slower shutterspeed" comment, but that might just be my caffeine intake preventing me from going below 1/125s with my 100mm.

I might have stopped down a bit for some more DoF. The 100mm gives quite shallow DoF wide open.

"De Boerderij" also has a new built venue, right?
Did you also shoot in the old venue?

I shot Living Colour last year at Atak, Enschede: http://www.moonglade.net/rene/081107_LC/index_2.html

I shot lots more, the other shots were OOF of with arms cut of, mic-stand in the way, hard light, not enough light etc.. all the things that make concert-photography a sport I guess :)

The old Boerderij has been torn down about ten years ago, I have never been there.

Love your serie, great group shot!

so how low (shutter wise) are others going? i'm regularly shooting as low as 1/60, sometimes even 1/25 (with IS)

Sensational set Sven... also a great band. I really like #2 and #5 - both magnificent captures.

They are truly a great band, best concert I've seen in a while.
