Which One...Lacie 526 or NEC 2690

After much research, reading and price consideration...I have narrowed my new monitor choice down to two:

LACIE 526

and

NEC MultiSync LCD 2690 WUXi2

Both exhibit similar specifications, and more important for me...price point. In speaking with my representative at BH Photo, he said the Lacie exhibits better brightness, and the NEC a bit better resolution / picture.

At this point, I wanted to reach out to you knowledgeable forum member to get your opinion..

I am looking for a quality 25" to 30" monitor for between $1000 -$1500

What does "better brightness" mean?



I have an NEC2690WUXi which has been "adjusted" to use the Spectraview software. It profiles better and shows a truer picture than my Wacom display that is also DDC/CI and so works with Spectraview as well. It soft proofs very well.

I don't know about the LaCie.

I've heard the LaCie's are re-labelled NECs, but with less quality control and higher price.
