Hello potn!
I got an email today and it confused me because I have never came across something like this.

Here's the email:

Connor -

I'd like to purchase the rights to use this image for a Flash microsite I'm working on:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/connorsurdi/3474691107/

Is it available, and if so, what is the pricing for it?

best,

Michael

Okay, what should I do for this and how much should I charge?... Is this a scam?

Thank you all :)

Who's it from is the first question (don't have to post it here, just check to make sure it's a team/company that's known). Really doesn't seem like a scam, I get emails like this often. You need to know more information as well - what type of site (personal vs business) - duration he'd like to use the photo - placement (main image/page or side page).

After that you check out fotoquote and see what it says and adjust as needed.

Newport High School - isn't that where Ronnie Allen Coached? He's here somewhere on this board...

Sounds like he wants a license and not the rights to the image.

Head on over to Amazon and get a copy of "Pricing Photography", by Michael Heron.
