I would appericate any comments on these photo's pls. They were taken at midday in Las Vegas. Canon 70-200mm L IS, ISO 200, handheld, Av priority f4.0, taken from past 1st base. Photo's have been cropped. How can I get them sharper and make them better? Any comments will be greatly appericated.

Hello! I'm new too! I also just started having trouble uploading photos that I can see in my Zoombrowser program, but the PhotoRecord printing of these pictures that I can see doesn't take place. It seems....well, it is definitely going step by step by step in a circle without heeding the PhotoRecord program. I can download, see the photos, edit, but I can't print.
A couple of months ago we move to SBCglobal and, not using the Zoombrowser for a while, it seemed to have lost contact with the PhotoRecord. I reinstalled the Zoombrowser programs (which include PhotoRecord, I assume) and still, I can't print out any albumns!! Help!
John...new guy....with your problem,too!

Welcome to the Forum
use the "go advanced" feature to put up your message.
then select "manage attachments"
that will allow you to choose files from your computor ( Say my pictures folder or destop say )
just double click the image file...then click the upload image ...you then close that window this takes you back to your message.
you can then submit reply....all done
MOST IMPORTANT
read the sticky at the top of the each photo sharing section .
make sure you resize your pictures first.
they must be maximum
800 pixels on longest side
and not more than 100 kb
if using photoshop use the save for web facillity and adjust to suit.
would also recomend rename as a copy of original picture and set up a new folder just for all your web sized images, then you can always save to and look for in same place again.

Glad to help.
Nice image, maybe just a bit more detail in the face, use levels or hold back with the dodge tool in PS.

Use levels?......I'm not sure what that is. Yeah I thought that the face was just a bit dark......I think that I'm using the focus as standard factory set, so should I set it to be center focus on all sport shots?

I think it's a tad underexposed. The camera doesn't realize it's looking mostly at bright sky, it just meters for what it sees. A little exposure compensation (+) would help in those situations. If you shoot in RAW format, you can make the adjustment with the RAW conversion software.

I plan on getting PS.....but at the present all I have is PS CS2, which is what came with my camera. I have only taken photo's in large Jpeg format so far. Is RAW better? and can you take continuous shots in the RAW mode? I'm still a bit new to all this.
I sure do appreciate everyones help though. Floundering is not much fun....lol.

in Photoshop Elements...
choose Enhance...adjust brightness / contrast....Levels and then drag the points below frame
ie. left is shadow....right is highlight....but the midle point will effectively adjust the exposure level its pos this one you need for this image, so move it to the left, take care not to blow out the whites .
you may also find a vary small move with the highlight side may help.
if a picture does not look right on screen ( a bit dark in your case) the first thing to do is levels.
1. open a image
2. adjust levels (sometimes auto levels will work ok, but this does more than needed at times)
try auto if no good use edit / undo.
3. if any sellective burning or dodging required in elements ..
press " o " for dodge tool
press "J " for burn tool
adjust size of brush to suit area to be worked on.
when all adjustments have been made any sharpening can then be carried out, say filter / unsharp mask.
your photo is already quite sharp so only use a minimum say 25 % to 40 %.
finally wish you luck and let me know how you get on.

Cheers Jeff
I'm in Monmouth. South Wales. U.K.
Have a look see what you think, only vary minor adjustments as image is good.
study it then adjust the original to similar . then practice, practice, practice as levels is one of the most usefull bits in PS .
did a crop as well , what do you think

Forgot to mention cloned out the small highlight on top of helmit, all this does prove that your orig file did have all the detail required for great pic.

WOW!! That is totally AWESOME!!.......you can see so much more of the detail in her face. Much better. OK......so I can see I have to get very familiar with PS. Will CS2 do the same type of stuff?.......I like the crop by the way, really directs you to her.
The next photos I post will be a bit rougher I'm afraid. But I cant wait to hear your comments on those. Thanks again for the help and advice.

2 is a great action capture, now thats what it's all about on this sports section.
just keep taking the pictures, often picking out just small parts of a scene is much better than many distracting bits and pieces all around , in other words zoom in tight at times for greater impact.
now this next bit is really being picky
view this with small crop at the left side just to lose the arm maybe tone down the bright blue
Tee shirt as well, sometimes bright items near top corners distract from main subject.
I love all the dust, helps to convey the movement.
well done

Thanks Martin. I wish that I would've had the lense wide open to blurr out most of the background. I cropped these shots alot. When I shot them I was about 50 ft. past first base, so I was a bit far away. And I'm pretty sure that I was using the factory setting on the focus points....i.e. not centered focus point. Do you think that that would help?
How could I have made this more crisp? And yes I know all the stuff in the background is distracting, but unavoidable :( . Is there anyway to blurr out the background in CS2?
