Thanks for the comments.

I cleaned them up a bit...lots of handrailings, etc., magically disappeared in CS3.

Thanks. It's all about a tripod and a remote shutter release! Leave the family at home; they'll quickly get bored. ;) :D

Alright, you've done it. After seeing the B-1 Bomber I'm going to have to go to my local air museum and shoot it up. They also have a B-1, as well as a B-52 out front of the building and a really nice F-86 Sabre.

I can only hope to do half as well as you have done with your's!
What lens did you use on most of those?

Don't they have nearly one of everything on the USAF Academy grounds as well?

They have a lot of different aircraft all over the place at the AFA. A P-40 mounted near one entrance. A F-4 Phantom in another spot along side the road, as well as a mounted B-52! I haven't been down there to tour around in a while. Last time I was down at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs I got to walk around their collection of war birds. There's some fun stuff in that group. Peterson isn't your typicle AFB, not much of a runway and only a few air craft. It's the words on the signs that tell you what they do there. "Welcome to Peterson AFB, Home of US Space Comand."
They fly satellites! That museum of old satellites sucks. ;)

I'm for sure now going to go to the Wings Over the Rockies air museum this weekend. It's in the old hangers of the former Lowry AFB. Pretty cool and close by. :D

Looking forward to the resultant imagery! :D

The Academy really has a B-52cicle? Wow...

LOL, B-52cicle! Yeah, they do if you can image the work that went into lifting that rig onto its pedistals. Every time I go down there for work I drive past it, but I never really get to see any of the cool stuff beyond that. It's usually having to do with the sky diving school or something. The Cadet Chaple is of course beautiful, but I haven't seen it in a very long time. Maybe I need to bore the socks off my kids and take them down there some time. :D

I remember when they flew that in... The AFA runway wasn't even close to long enough for it to land and neither was Peterson's, but at least it was close. So they stripped it down to make it as light as possible so they could get it to stop before the Peterson runway ran out :) It was also a 100% one-way trip because even stripped down, the runway wasn't long enough for it to take off again.

There was a night of really messing up traffic as they hauled it all the way across town (Peterson [was] on the SE corner of Colorado Springs and the Academy's on the NE corner).

I don't remember how long ago that was, though.... probably the late 80s or very early 90s.

^^^ Now THAT would have been something to see.

Right up there with the Museum of Science and Industry 727 landing at Meigs in Chigago and the 747 they landed somewhere in (I think) South Africa where the main wheel span was barely on the pavement.

Looks like a Douglas B-23 'Dragon' to me.
