Actually a Photoshop of 2 images one being a full moon taken with a 300mm telephoto and 3x teleconverter the other the Melbourne Cityscape with Flinders street and Princes Bridge looking eastwards from Southbank. There was a 4 sec exposure which explains the blurred person walking in the foreground.
I also attempted a moon reflection in the river.
All critiques welcomed:-)

Nikolas, I was pleasantly surprised to see this nightscape when I opened this. :D
What a STUNNING shot! The colors look perfect, and the comp is very good. ;)

My two cents worth.

First of all there are some absolutely lovely tones in the opposite riverbank. They deserve to be emphasized and undelined. Now the dull grey pavement in the front creates a huge contrast. In my opinion it dampers the mood; there's just too large a chunk of greyness. I would have tried to shoot from closer to the waterline because the reflections in the water are always prettier than the pavement.

Also the moon (which you used as the title of this shot!) is very close to the top edge and the tallest building actually crosses the border.

I love the way you captured the colours, but I don't agree with the composition.

I hear you, unfortunately my vantage point was limited as i didn't have a tripod and had to make use of a wall for the camera, and if i had framed it tighter I would have lost the station and some of the buildings.
As for the moon I superimposed it where the moon normally rises in Melbourne regardless so actually it is in the correct position albeit slightly enlarged deliberately because I was playing around with Photoshop.

Exceptional! (not a fan of the attempt at the moon reflection in the river though....it adds a noticeable break in the continuity of the regular reflection of the cityscape).

Good Job!
