It seems a little on the soft side to me...???

Looks just right to me..... Nice shot. Did you try a crop where the left tree is only partially visible (like the right one)?

Focus appears to be in the middle.the childs face is soft..

I think the focus is on the very left part of the right tree where the boys arm is. Either way, its not focused on him.

I tried to sharpen it, but didn't help. All the shots from this shoot were soft for some reason...even with my 50mm, which never happens.

The focus to me seems to be inbetween the boys hand/arm and face. Beautiful picture!
